Clare Hollingworth celebrated her 105th birthday at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, Hong Kong on 10th October. My co-exec, David Mercer and I were invited by her family to attend and, slightly jet-lagged, we recorded as much of the event as we could. It was good to be there and to help celebrate the life of this remarkable woman. Conversations with our US backer are continuing whilst we approach writers to develop a film script.
Back in the UK I’ve been busy working on Celestial and it was my great pleasure to record Michael Sheen reading Johnnie’s poems. I travelled to Port Talbot last week to make the recording and met Michael’s parents who made me so welcome. Johnnie Douglas-Pennant’s words sparkled and came alive in the hands of this talented man. It’s a huge leap forward for the project and has really inspired me.
